Bon Jovi’s David Bryan Jams at the Stone Pony

David Bryan rocks with Samhill at The Stone Pony

The renowned Asbury Park, NJ rock club, The Stone Pony, has a long tradition as one of the top music venues in the northeastern U.S. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes was once the club’s house band and Bruce Springsteen jammed there dozens of times. Last June, Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan, performing on a Yamaha Clavinova CVP105 digital piano, rocked The Stone Pony with Samhill, an up-and-coming band. Lee Mrowicki, general manager of Freehold Music Center in Freehold, NJ, chose the Clavinova CVP105 digital piano for Bryan’s performance. “It has all the features a professional musician would need,” says Mrowicki. “The CVP105 is a great instrument for home or onstage use. And since The Stone Pony’s PA system could handle the amplification, the CVP105 was truly a perfect fit. It gave David the superb action, sound, and feel of an acoustic piano.”In addition to Springsteen and Southside Johnny, The Stone Pony has a rich 30-year history of performances by such rock and rollers as the Smithereens, Gary US Bonds, and John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. “It’s a place where they play with friends, or by themselves, or just go to hang out,” says Mrowicki. Approximately 500 fans attended Bryan’s performance with Samhill. The show was broadcast live on the Internet and can be seen and heard, in streamingvideo, by visiting http://www.stoneponyonline.com. A worldwide tour celebrating Bon Jovi’s newest release, Crush, started in Japan, then moved on to Europe and will reach North America and Australia in Fall 2000.
