Elton John Fan Wins a Clavinova
Lucky winner Wendy Rawski of South Berwick, Maine, was the tenth caller to reach WHOM-FM in Portland after the station played the opening bars of Elton Johns 1972 hit Honky Cat. That call entered Rawski in a drawing that resulted in her winning two tickets to the pop stars concert at the Cumberland County Civic Center last April, dinner and a hotel room, a chauffeured limoand a Yamaha Clavinova CLP810 digital piano to take home, courtesy of Yamaha and Starbird Piano and Organ in Portland. Im not a musician, but I might be learning, says Rawski, who serves as Deputy Town Clerk in Elliott, Maine. She was at work when she learned she had won the grand prize. My colleagues were ecstatic for me, she says. I couldnt believe it. I still cant. Though shes not a musician, Rawski reports that shes enchanted with the Clavinova that now graces her den. My family loves it, she says. My six-year-old son is studying several other instruments, and now hes taking an interest in the Clavinova. Rawski is considering taking piano lessons herself.
Harry Starbird III of Starbird Piano and Organ praised WHOM-FM for what
he called incredible promotional support. Yamaha Piano Division
District Manager Jim Levesque helped make the Clavinova giveaway possible.
