CLP555

The digital revolution is well underway, and while familiar household appliances are being replaced by their information-age counterparts, consumers are demanding that style is just as important as function--digital pianos being no exception. The Clavinova CLP555 digital piano has taken an uncharacteristic turn by adding cabinetry that resembles a miniature version of a time-honored classic--the grand piano--making it a popular piano choice in Hawaii.

Dale Mathis of ABC Music, Inc., Honolulu, Hawaii, shows off the CLP555.

The CLP555, complete with its sleek signature curve and polished ebony cabinet, offers top quality digital capabilities while being a unique accent to any home decor. "Space is a big consideration for our customers so they need a high-quality instrument that will also serve as an elegant piece of furniture," said Russell Tsubota of ABC Music in Honolulu, HI.

Customers have certainly taken notice. "My husband, Christopher, was determined to buy a digital piano because metal rusts easily in Hawaii. He didn't want to worry about metal strings in an acoustic piano," explained Christy Harrison. "We were also limited on space and needed an instrument that looked nice in our home. The CLP555 met all our requirements."

"We wanted to buy a piano for our daughter, Lisa, and we purchased the CLP555 because we had a limited amount of space--all the acoustic pianos were too big," commented Chuck DeCoito.

Appearance is only part of the reason for the CLP555 popularity. The instrument imitates the sound of a grand piano with startling realism and it features a responsive keyboard with 88 keys for full acoustic piano effect; the volume and tone of the keys change as the musician plays hard or soft. "We wanted the highest quality digital piano we could find, and only Yamaha could offer remarkable sound--even the sound quality through the headphones is excellent!" explained Christy.

The CLP555 offers features not available on acoustic pianos, including a direct PC interface for quick connection to any personal computer. "I especially like the recording capabilities," replied Nolan Tokunaga. "The Clavinova CLP555 is a great digital piano."
