CONSULTANT SEMINAR
IN BUENA PARK

n April, a Piano Service Consultant meeting was held at Yamaha's Buena Park, CA offices. The training forum, conducted by Bill Brandom, piano service manager, and Terry Niimi, piano technical manager, acquainted attendees with new digital/acoustic products and the latest technical advances.

Seven consultants received advanced technical service training on the Disklavier PRO® and Disklavier XG Upgrade Kit installation, highlighted by question and answer sessions.

Hiro Mizuno, concert service specialist from Yamaha Artist Services, also demonstrated a variety of new techniques for tuning, voicing, and regulating the CFIIIS concert grand.

Attendee Richard Davenport, whose West LA clients include 20th Century Fox and many celebrities, says, "The new Disklavier PRO is a wonderful product, a great leap forward in technology. The artist who demands the most accurate reproduction won't be disappointed."

EVENINGS WITH PIANOBENCH GET RAVE REVIEWS

hree lively "An Evening With PianoBench" workshops were presented in July in Northern California by George Litterst (a.k.a. "PianoBench," on DUG, the Internet based Disklavier Users Group). Both professionals and amateurs benefited from extensive audience interaction as Litterst demonstrated and performed, concluding with a presentation of "the piano of the future."

District Manager Chuck Dadisman explains, "The sessions are a terrific opportunity for Disklavier owners and prospective buyers to see how modern technology has hit the acoustic piano, assuring a 300 year old instrument a place in the future of music." According to Dadisman, "George answers questions from Disklavier owners through the Internet, but I thought he could be even more effective by giving owners and others a chance to discover more about the Disklavier face to face. All three 'Evenings' were an exciting success."

They were hosted by Yamaha Peninsula, San Jose, CA; Fresno Piano & Organ, Fresno, CA; and Music Exchange, Sacramento, CA where salesperson Buddy Nash stated, "George really stirred up a lot of excitement. In fact, we sold a Disklavier that night! The sessions were absolutely tremendous, and extremely well received, not only by attendees but also by the store's staff."
