Written by Yamaha artist Gabriela Imreh, along with psychologists Roger Chaffin and Mary Crawford, Practicing Perfection offers both musicians and psychologists an introspective examination of an artist’s piano performance and musical memory. Imreh allowed researchers into her studio to detail how an experienced pianist organizes her practice, including identifying stages of the learning process, characteristics of expert practice, and practice strategies. These elements are combined with knowledge, developed by psychologists, in the field of expert memory.
