At the Doerflers, sound engineer Marc Bunce has recorded six CDs featuring the internationally acclaimed Greek pianist Lambis Vassiliadis. Patrick Meanor of Listener who writes of Vassiliadis' Bartok CD: "Get this recording. It is great playing, in great and full sound, on what has to be the greatest Yamaha ever recorded." "We always wanted a concert grand piano in our home," admits Anne, a church organist/director and PTG associate member. "In 1986, we attended our annual PTG convention and compared pianos from various manufacturers. We were impressed by the tone quality and action of the Yamaha CFIIIS." The Doerflers have a good basis for comparison. Since 1979, they have made numerous trips to Europe, England, and Asia with fellow piano technicians to visit piano manufacturers, including a personal tour of the Hammamatsu, Japan, Yamaha Concert Grand Factory. Says Richard, "After observing the Yamaha production techniques in Japan, from handling of the lumber to every detail of action work, it is easy to see how they build such a quality instrument."

Rob Mullins Shares His Music with the World
Last year was the first year Mullins took over as host of the Boys and Girls Club fundraiser, held in October 2000 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. He requested a Yamaha piano for the event, and he believes it was a great decision. "One of the fans at a gig last summer asked me to get involved (in the fundraiser) because the regular host was not going to be available," he explains. "It was a challenging situation because they came to me late in June and the event was in October. All of a sudden, I'm thinking, 'What are we going to do?'"
