igh-level teaching, a nurturing international musical community, a gorgeous oceanside setting—the summer music festival and school at Pebble Beach, CA could simply not be more inspiring. And, for the sixth year in a row, California Summer Music (CSM) at the Robert Louis Stevenson School on the scenic 17 Mile Drive selected Yamaha pianos for their three-week long sessions.

Last July, more than 70 gifted and talented students of strings, piano, and composition, ranging in age from 12 to 26, converged to study with some of America's most accomplished musicians. Eleven Yamaha grand pianos (including two CFIIIS concert grand pianos and a C7 conservatory grand piano from Yamaha Artists Services), two Disklavier® DC3s, two Disklavier MX1s, and nine upright pianos were provided by Yamaha Peninsula Music Center in San Jose.

"We're happy to do this every year," says Scott Owens, manager. "It really helps the musical community and the educational system, and we've definitely had positive feedback over the years."

The pianos were used for classroom studies, practice, rehearsals, and performance. Twenty public concerts and master classes were held on the CFIIIS in the school's 400-seat auditorium and more intimate 100-seat gallery space.

"CSM is distinctive for many reasons," says Yamaha District Manager Chuck Dadisman. "It's international in scope, and the students are all highly accomplished players. Master classes are offered by instructors from Oberlin, Cleveland Institute, San Francisco Conservatory, and other prestigious schools. And, with honorary Board members like Yo-Yo Ma, CSM's existing faculty and other support systems are outstanding. It's a win-win situation that gives Yamaha pianos and Disklaviers good exposure, to both faculty and students."

"The Yamaha pianos are a linchpin in our composition program," says Dr. Timothy Bach, CSM faculty/Board of Directors member and professor of piano/accompanying at SF Conservatory. "We had 15 pianists and wouldn't be able to do this without them."
