Brickman enters some new territory with this latest work, moving from the soothing comforts of love gained into the uncertain world of love lost with his song, "Change of Heart." He co-wrote the piece with Newton-John, which the two sang as a duet during the live program. "Olivia and I wanted to collaborate for a long time, so we decided to write this song together," says Brickman. "The song is about moving on while trying to stay friends and how hard that is to do." |

Another new song called "Love I Found in You" features Brickman's vocal debut. "That's the song that I'm really proud of," he says. Other songs featured in My Romance include some of Brickman's most popular material from the hit albums Destiny, No Words, By Heart, Picture This, and The Gift.
A companion CD, also entitled My Romance, with highlights from the PBS show was released this past August and is Brickman's first live album. The CD features instrumentals such as "Rocket to the Moon" and "Picture This;" duets such as "The Love of My Life," sung with Osmond; "Change of Heart" and "Valentine," sung by Newton-John; "By Heart," sung by Cochran; and "Glory," a studio track performed with Benoit. A DVD and a VHS home video version of My Romance that includes 20 minutes of additional material not seen on the television show, will be released later this year. The Yamaha CFIIIS was used exclusively during the live PBS special and is also featured on the CD. "The reason we selected the CFIIIS is, number one, I love playing it in concert for its evenness of tone and sound quality, which is unsurpassed," says Brickman, who has been a Yamaha artist since he began recording six years ago. "It also works very well on the stage visually, because of its large size." |
