Artist on Center Stage:
A native of Lithuania, Rubackyté was born into a family of well-known musicians. Remarkably, at the tender age of seven she made her professional debut in Vilnius, with the Lithuanian National Chamber Orchestra. At the age of 13, she won First Prize in the National Young Artist Competitions. Rubackyté was then admitted into the famous Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where she studied with Yakov Flier, Michail Voscressensky and Bella Davidovich, among others. Also during her tenure at the Conservatory, she was awarded First Prize at the International Tallinn Piano Competition, followed by a trio of First Prizes from the Conservatory for Chamber Music, Piano and Accompaniment. In 1981, Rubackyté captured international attention with the Grand Prix at the Budapest International Piano Competition (also known as the Liszt-Bartok). With the advent of perestroika in 1989, she moved to Paris, where she entered the prestigious Paris International Piano Competition, adding another First Prize to her impressive list of awards. She is also laureate of the All Union Competition. Rubackyté currently travels extensively, giving concerts and recitals throughout France, Germany, Holland (Liszt Festival), the United States (including the Newport Music Festival), as well as Moscow and St. Petersburg. In addition, she holds a number of teaching positions, including Postgraduate Professor at the Lithuanian National Academy of Music, Professor at the European Conservatory in Paris, Professor at the master classes of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and Jurist at the Lithuanian International Piano Competition. Rubackyté broadcasts regularly on radio and TV and has completed eight recordings, which have been enthusiastically received by the classical music community. |
