Yamaha Awards Lifetime
Achievement to Colorado Dealer
 arl and Maxine Schultz received the
prestigious Yamaha Lifetime Achievement Award in Fort Collins, CO at the
Natural Piano Center Company Christmas banquet last December. The Award,
presented by Yamaha District Manager Tom Mapson, honors both Karl
and Maxine as a husband and wife team that has been in the retail business
for 40 years.
Starting with a guitar studio in Santa Ana, CA, Karl penned a guitar
and keyboard beginner music course called the Natural Method. They later
migrated to Colorado, where they founded the present company. The couple
recently sold the thriving piano store to their daughter and son-in-law.
Natural Piano Center has been a proud Yamaha dealer since 1986.
Together, Karl and Maxine have enriched literally thousands of lives
through music. Congratulations from everyone at Yamaha Corporation of America.
Bates Receives 'Golden Clef Award'

amaha Director of Academic and Institutional Relations Mike Bates
was recently honored as the inaugural recipient of the Berklee Golden
Clef Award.The distinction was presented by Boston's Berklee College
of Music in recognition of Bates' lifelong commitment to music education.
"Over the years, Mike has provided invaluable support for numerous
collaborative programs and has always proven to be an outstanding representative
of Yamaha," stated Peter Gordon, director of the Berklee Center
in Los Angeles.
Bates started his professional career in 1970 as a public school music
teacher in the state of Washington and joined the music products industry
"selling guitars at a local music store on the first Saturday after
my first teaching paycheck of $459 for the whole month of September!"
After 13 years in the retail side of the industry Bates joined Yamaha in
1983 and served as a keyboard division regional manager until 1993. He was
the general manager of the Music Education Division of Yamaha before rejoining
the Keyboard Division in his present position. |
