Yamaha Grand Reaches
King's hadn't anticipated the Knoll family, however. Wanting only the best piano for their children's lessons, the Knolls decided on a Yamaha S4 acoustic grand piano. Along with the purchase, the Knolls informed salesperson Sarah Savarino that they would be moving to a newly-built home in Ann Arbor. It was decided that when construction was completed, the new living room would house the piano. The home turned out to be a hillside, 10,000-square foot, three-story dwelling, with a second-floor living room. Making the delivery even more complicated, the only staircase leading to the landing where the room was located was circular. "We knew we would accomplish this move one way or another, but it took many strategy sessions to figure out just how to get the piano up there," said Savarino. Ultimately, King's hired a crane and hoisted the piano through a sliding door. It took three scheduled tries to accomplish this feat, since snow, wind and ice foiled the first two attempts. Savarino cheerfully summarized, "We do what we can to accommodate our customers." |
