McDermott performs 'Rhapsody'
on a Theme of Paganini
onsecutive sold-out audiences were on hand to hear Orange
County California's Pacific Symphony Orchestra and acclaimed pianist Anne-Marie
McDermott perform "a skilled, introspective performance of Rachmaninoff's
complex Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, opus 43."
Ms. McDermott, a well-known chamber musician and Yamaha owner, was obviously
moved by the new Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand piano, which is the official
piano of both the Pacific Symphony Orchestra and the performance venue,
The Orange County Performing Arts Center. "Eric Johnson (director
of Yamaha Artist Services) has been telling me about this great new CFIIIS
scale design," she explained. "Now I know what he's talking about.
Wow, what a great piano."
A number of Yamaha staff members were in attendance at the concert, which
included wonderful performances of Ravel's Mother Goose Suite
and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition under the baton
of guest conductor Michael Palmer.
