LEEZA GIBBONS' ALMAMATER RECEIVES THE GIFT OF MUSIC

BC's popular daytime host Leeza Gibbons commemorated her 1,000th episode in October with a special show dedicated to children's causes. Appearing on the show as a surprise guest was Leeza's former Entertainment Tonight co-host and Yamaha artist, John Tesh.

In honor of Leeza's accomplishment, Tesh donated a Yamaha P22 piano to Leeza's alma mater Millcreek Elementary School in Columbia, SC. As an avid supporter in the crusade for music education, Tesh used the show as a platform to speak about the importance of music in today's schools. He explained about his concert tours and how he works with Yamaha to provide keyboards to elementary schools across the country.

Leeza was touched that her elementary alma mater was selected to receive the "gift of music." The feeling was mutual among the students and teachers at Millcreek Elementary.

"We were thrilled to get this," exclaims Millcreek's music teacher Mary Cole. "Everyone was awe struck. It really helps the kids get excited about music."

A special inaugural performance was given for parents and students soon after the piano was delivered last October. The piano will find a home in the new music classroom the school will complete in Fall 2000.

NEW AGE RECORDING ARTIST EMPLOYS DISKLAVIER FOR UNIQUE RECORDING TECHNIQUE

aced with the prospect of recording her latest CD in an economical and timely fashion-without any creative sacrifices-contemporary pianist and new age recording artist Joyce Valentine turned to her Disklavier® DC3. In order to achieve her desired result, the Seattle based artist recorded the entire CD Wind In My Face to disk on her DC3 in her living room. She took the disk to David Abell's Los Angeles recording studio, where the CD was mixed and mastered. "I put the disk in the studio console and it was magical," says Valentine.

Valentine enjoys the freedom the DC3 gives her as a composer, stating, "It's fabulous. The instrument allows me to capture my thoughts without having to worry about losing an idea while transferring it to paper."

Valentine purchased the DC3 from Gary Egger of Evan's Music in Seattle, WA. Egger has also provided her with two Yamaha pianos, a P2 and an MP100, for her studio.
