MICHAEL W. SMITH LIVES
THE LIFE

hristian recording artist and two time GRAMMY® Award winner Michael W. Smith recently concluded his "Live the Life" tour, traveling to 40 cities in nine weeks. Playing on a Yamaha Disklavier® DGT7 piano, Smith performed a diverse sampling of classic tunes, rocking anthems, and romantic ballads, showing audiences what an enduring and captivating artist he is.

Using the DGT7 to authentically recreate songs from his Live the Life album, Smith performed his number one hits "Love Me Good" and "Never Been Unloved."

The "Live the Life" tour concluded last October but Smith's schedule hasn't slowed down. He recently released Christmastime, his second holiday collection. Further spreading the holiday cheer, last November and December he joined friend Amy Grant for the "Amy Grant Christmas Tour," featuring 80 performers, among them C.C. Winans and the Nashville Symphony.

CHUCK MANGIONE AND
CLIFF KORMAN
TEAM FOR NEW CD

huck Mangione, who became a pop music staple and helped define the "soft pop jazz sound" with his 1977 hit "Feels So Good," is back in the studio again. After a decade long hiatus from recording, the popular jazzman will release his Chesky Records debut, "The Feelings Back" in the Spring of 1999.

In order to capture the excitement and spontaneity of Mangione's live performances, producer Cliff Korman recorded the CD in only two weeks. Rather than record it in a conventional studio, Chesky and Korman set up a remote studio at St. Peter's Church in New York. In addition to his trademark fluegelhorn, Mangione employed a Yamaha C7 grand piano to achieve the sound he and Korman were seeking.

Although it has been more than a decade since a new Mangione recording has graced the stores, the Rochester, NY native has maintained an extensive touring schedule. He has also attracted a devoted following due to his exposure on Fox's animated series "King of the Hill."
