SKYWALKER SOUND IS THE CURRENT HOME OF A CFIIIS kywalker Sound, located on filmmaker George Lucas' estate in San Rafael, CA, has been the birthplace of numerous film scores and musical recordings. Scores for films such as The Game starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn, and the upcoming film, The Faculty were recorded at Skywalker Sound, the largest sound stage in Northern California. It is now the home of a Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand piano. Yamaha artist Frederick Chiu practices at Skywalker Sound on a CFIIIS that is brought in especially for him. Recently however, when Chiu was practicing, other Skywalker clients heard him play and fell in love with the sound of the CFIIIS, and requested its use. Leslie Ann Jones, of the music recording and scoring division at Skywalker Sound, contacted Yamaha Artist Services and the piano was delivered. "It's important to have an instrument like this with all of the film scoring that is done here. We also have a Yamaha C5 conservatory grand piano which is used with the CFIIIS for film scores that require two pianos," says Jones.     ELVIS AND BURT BRIDGE MUSICAL GENERATION GAP hen Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach first combined their considerable creative energies to compose the GRAMMY® nominated "God Give Me Strength" from the motion picture Grace of My Heart, it left industry insiders and fans alike wanting to hear more material from this seemingly odd couple of pop. Costello and Bacharach apparently agreed that the collaborative experiment was a success - they wrote and recorded an album together Painted From Mercury- and undertook an international tour in support of the CD. Writing in the Bristol Evening Post, England, Anthony Loman said, "The recently released album more than lived up to its great expectations." Continued on page 18
