LANDSBERG & YOUNT PERFORM
WITH THE GHOST OF GERSHWIN
ON NEW TRIBUTE CD

merica's favorite piano duo, Landsberg & Yount, recently released their new CD entitled Gershwin- Then & Now. The recording is a technological marvel allowing Norman Landsberg, Robert Blue Yount, and George Gershwin's separately recorded piano tracks to be combined into one performance. All three pianists "played" a Yamaha Disklavier® CFIIIS concert grand for the recording.

Gershwin's outstanding piano technique was recorded on 140 piano rolls in the 1920's and 1930's. Artis Wodehouse converted those rolls to digital information in 1992 and many of the rolls are now available as PianoSoft® disks to be played on the Yamaha Disklavier piano.

Landsberg & Yount perform four selections with Gershwin: "That Certain Feeling," "Sweet and Lowdown," "Swanee," and "Kick'n the Clouds Away." The rest of the CD includes a Landsberg & Yount arranged Gershwin medley, three piano preludes, and Gershwin's rarely heard arrangement of 18 of his own personal favorites, expanded for two pianos. Landsberg & Yount begin the "Gershwin - Then & Now" tour with the North Carolina Symphony in April 1999.

The CD is available from Pair-O-Dactyl Records, P.O. Box 420869, San Francisco, CA 94142 and at retail stores nationwide.
