NASHVILLE, TN. (March 28, 2011) The jazz world continues to show its love for Yamaha pianos with the recent addition of a Yamaha C7 grand piano to the stage of the famed Birdland Jazz Club. Located in midtown Manhattan, Birdland selected the respected 7' 6" Concert Collection Grand Piano as its official piano of choice.

When the original Birdland opened 60 years ago on Dec. 15, 1949, Charlie Parker, known to his fans and fellow musicians as "Bird," was the headliner and the club was located on Broadway, a block west of the 52nd Street scene, which was a hotbed of jazz in the 1930s and 1940s.

Over the years, the booking history came to read like a who's who of jazz: Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bud Powell, Stan Getz, Lester Young, Erroll Garner, and many others. Birdland was forced to close down for a bit when jazz began to take a backseat to rock and roll, but eventually it reopened, first uptown, then finally back in midtown on West 44th Street in 1996, where it remains and where it continues to provide top-flight jazz in a legendary setting.
