ANAHEIM, Calif. — Yamaha Corporation of America, Band and Orchestral Division, will debut the YSL-897Z Tenor Trombone at Winter NAMM 2011. Designed with renowned jazz trombonists Andy Martin and Al Kay, the YSL-897Z features two interchangeable leadpipes, giving players the flexibility to cover different styles and offering a wide range of tonal colors.

With its compact, well-centered tone and quick response, the YSL-897Z is suitable for all types of trombone performances. Long-lasting nickel-silver tubular braces contribute to the stability of the slide and enhance smooth slide action. Hand-lapped slides ensure an absolutely perfect fit and seal between the slide parts. Such an ideal fit helps to achieve smooth airflow and even action while improving the response and intonation of the instrument.

“The YSL-897Z Tenor Trombone combines Yamaha affordability with custom-made, boutique quality,” said Roger Eaton, Director of Marketing, Yamaha Band and Orchestral Division. “It records beautifully and has a great projection for solos. The YSL-897Z Tenor Trombone comes with an MSRP of $3,080 and is scheduled for a Spring 2011 delivery.
