ANAHEIM, Calif. — Yamaha today introduced the long-awaited YSS-82Z and YSS-82ZR Custom Z Soprano Saxophones at Winter NAMM 2011. The saxophone models were designed in close collaboration with global Yamaha saxophone artists.

Yamaha’s Z Series saxophones have become a modern classic and are used by leading professional players worldwide. Their strong, clear sound and excellent playability have set new standards in professional model saxophones. In addition, the Z Series soprano saxophones offer extremely accurate intonation along with comfortable response.

In the spirit of the classic Yamaha 62 Series soprano saxophones, the YSS-82Z and YSS-82ZR feature a one-piece neck through bell design. With a direct and powerful sound, the Z Series represents the next step in the evolution of the custom series of Yamaha instruments.

“The new Custom Z Soprano Saxophones are revelations for the modern day saxophone player,” said Jonathan Goldman, product specialist, Yamaha Winds. “Their sound is fantastic and the tonal flexibility is truly amazing.”

Both models will be available in May 2011 with an MSRP of $5,545.
