For The Best New Pedals, Step On It
— Yamaha Introduces New 8500 and 9500 Series Bass Drum Pedals —
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Yamaha Drums introduces two new bass pedal lines at Winter NAMM 2009, the 8500 series and the 9500 series.

The 9500 series includes models FP-9500D, FP-9500C, DFP-9500C and DFP-9500D, and features a smoother, more efficient design than previous pedals. A new hoop clamp eases attachment to the drum, narrower footboards make positioning near a hi-hat more effective, a double-sided beater offers a choice of sharp or soft attack capabilities, and adjustability has been improved.

"These user-friendly pedals are smooth and quiet," says Dave Jewell, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums. "Drum key adjustments for footboard and beater angle are easier to perform among many other improvements."

The 8500 series offers two drive systems for a variety of playing styles. Model FP-8500C is a double chain drive with a nylon strap that users can install instead of the chains. It includes a full bottom-stabilizing plate, a new side-adjusting hoop clamp and a double-sided beater.

The FP-8500B is a strap drive pedal that folds easily for compact storage. Both models come in double-pedal versions (denoted by the DFP model prefix) and feature longer footboards to accommodate heel-down players or those who use the heel-toe technique.
