Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1953, Mike Stern is known as one of the worlds leading contemporary jazz guitarists. Putting down Clapton and Hendrix licks at age 12, Mike switched to jazz while studying at Berklee College of Music in 1971. Recording his solo debut, Upside Downside, in 1986, Mike went on to be named 'Jazz Guitarist of The Year' by Guitar Player Magazine in 1993 and received Grammy nominations in 1994 and 1996. Revered for his incredible ability to fuse jazz, blues, rock, funk, world and folk music, Mike Stern constantly strives to redefine what is possible on the electric guitar.
