"I Play Yamaha"Michael Anthony
Born in 1954 and originally from Chicago, Illinois, Michael's family later settled in California. It was there he got an early start in music, when at age seven he followed in the footsteps of his father Walt and picked up the trumpet. In his early teens, Michael began playing the bass and cited John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin as his biggest influence at the time.
While pursuing a degree in music at Pasadena City College, Michael was asked to join the band, Van Halen. Van Halen assaulted the Southern California club scene over the course of the next few years and established themselves as one of the premiere rock and roll bands in the area. Van Halen released their first album in 1978 and the rest, as they say, is history.
In 2008, Michael co-founded the rock super-group, Chickenfoot with Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani and Chad Smith. Since Chickenfoot's start in 2009, the band has been touring arena's worldwide.
