Establishment of a Procurement Subsidiary

Yamaha Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Yamaha" or "the Company") announces the establishment of a procurement subsidiary, Yamaha Music International Procurement Sdn. Bhd., in Malaysia.

1. Purpose of Establishment of Subsidiary

In response to the semiconductor procurement difficulties that emerged in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Yamaha has continued to narrow down the number of components it uses and the semiconductor manufacturers it does business with in an effort to ensure stable procurement of semiconductors and to strengthen its supply chain.

As part of this policy, the Company has established Yamaha Music International Procurement Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia, a semiconductor procurement company that promotes direct transactions with major semiconductor manufacturers, in order to realize a robust procurement system that will be less susceptible to changes in the external environment.

Malaysia, one of Southeast Asia's core countries, has established itself as a "hub of the semiconductor industry" with many semiconductor factories located there. Yamaha decided to establish the new company in Malaysia because the Company owns a manufacturing base for audio equipment in Malaysia, and the country has the infrastructure to achieve optimal international logistics for Yamaha's manufacturing bases in China, Indonesia, and Japan. The new company is scheduled to start operation in July 2024.

• Establishment: December 2023
• Start of Business: July 2024 (scheduled)
