- The Competition is greatly saddened by the news that Alexei Skavronsky, a member of the 2006 International Jury has passed away on August 11, 2008. For more than 50 years Mr. Skavronsky led an active concert life, performing in most important venues of Russia, as well as abroad. Mr. Skavronsky has made an invaluable contribution as an educator and pedagogue - he was one of the first artists to present "keyboard conversations" - very popular lecture-recitals. Music of Chopin occupied a special place in Mr. Skavronsky's reperoire. He presented many Chopin recitals, and recently made a recording as well as prepared a special edition of all Chopin Etudes. He will be greatly missed by all of us at the Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition.
