New Input Cards and Input Units Update Yamaha's Flagship Digital Mixing Console PM1D

Yamaha announces the introduction of two new mic/line input cards and two new input units designed specifically for the state-of-the-art PM1D Digital Mixing Console. The AI8-ML8AB input box uses the A/B switchable LMY2-MLAB mic/line input cards to create a 16-channel analog input device. Similarly, the AI8-ML8F input box uses the 4-channel LMY4-MLF mic/line input cards to create a 32-channel analog input device.

Both card types use the same uncompromising circuitry found in the PM5000, which is the culmination of 30 years of experience and expertise in the design and development of professional mixing consoles. Using the finest parts available, the circuitry itself has been simplified as much as possible in order to minimize signal deterioration. You won't hear anything but the input signal, with every delicate nuance fully intact.

New PM5000 Circuitry Delivers Head Amplifiers Of Superb Quality

With the PM1D's digital technology delivering outstanding audio quality, presence, and separation, the head amplifiers play a crucial role in determining the sound quality of the console.

The new LMY2-MLAB and LMY4-MLF head amplifiers utilize the same uncompromising circuitry found in the PM5000's head amplifiers. Using the finest parts available its design is simplified as much as possible in order to minimize signal deterioration.

Such effort has paid off greatly – you won't hear anything but the input signal, with every delicate nuance fully intact.

2-Channel (A/B) Switchable and 4-Channel Mic/Line Input Cards

Each card is equipped with 4 XLR input jacks and can be controlled via the CS1D control surface and from a computer running the "PM1D Manager" application.

The LMY2-MLAB is a 2-channel mic/line head amplifier that offers A/B switching while the LMY4-MLF offers 4-channel mic/line input.

Set A/B Switching, Gain, Phantom Power ON/OFF setting Via Remote Control

A/B switching, gain adjustment (-68 to +10dB) and phantom power ON/OFF settings can be independently set for each channel. Gain is set in 1dB increments and each channel is equipped with a signal LED for visual monitoring.

* A/B switching is not available on the LMY4-MLF.

Floating Control Achieves 28-bit Conversion and a Dynamic Range Greater Than 120dB (LMY2-MLAB)

The LMY2-MLAB uses floating control and a pair of 24-bit A/D converters for each incoming signal to achieve 28-bit equivalent A/D conversion. The cards create a highly sensitive system that accurately reproduces sound down to the finest nuance.

Equipped with four channels of head amplifier circuitry, the LMY4-MLF does not incorporate floating control however it delivers a dynamic range that is greater than 110dB.

32 Inputs In A Compact Package – The AI8-ML8F Delivers Big On Space Savings

The AI8-ML8F is truly hard to beat when it comes to space savings. Offering a total of 32 input channels in a single 3U rack-mount unit it delivers robust input capability while remaining extremely compact and easy to transport. Using the same 3U design, the AI8-ML8AB, with its eight LMY2-MLAB cards installed, offers a total of 16 switchable inputs. LMY cards are compatible with previous AI8 units that can house up to eight AD input cards.
