Megadeth bassist James Lomenzo joins Yamaha Guitars

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Jan. 25, 2008) – James Lomenzo, bassist for the metal giants Megadeth, has joined Yamaha Guitar's impressive artist roster. Lomenzo plays Yamaha BB series basses and is getting ready to embark on two tours that will take him around the country and the world.

Lomenzo joined the trash metal band Megadeth in February of 2006. Other members of the band include guitarist/singer Dave Mustaine, guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover. The band released its 11th studio album United Abominations in May 2007.

Before joining Megadeth, Lomenzo was affiliated with a string of other bands and artists including Black Label Society, David Lee Roth, Slash's Snakepit, Pride & Glory, Ozzy Osbourne, Ace Frehley and White Lion.

"We are thrilled that James has joined the Yamaha Guitars family," comments Mike Tempesta, Artist Relations Manager for Yamaha Guitars. "James is an amazing artist and we are excited that he has decided to tour with our classic BB basses."

Megadeth kicks off a long string of international dates Feb. 4 in Finland. The solo gigs will be interrupted for seven nights in February for the UK edition of Gigantour, the acclaimed traveling heavy music festival launched in 2005 by lead singer Mustaine.

The international tour dates wrap March 14 in Bangalore, India, after which the band will return to the United States to kick off the third installment of the North American edition of Gigantour on April 12 in Denver, CO. Gigantour features bands hand-picked by Mustaine with a sharp eye on true musicianship and a heavy focus on top-notch guitarists. The 29-date trek will crisscross North America and wraps May 22 in Phoenix, AZ.
