Ming-Hui Kuo's Biography

Dr. Ming-Hui Kuo was an intern performing member of Ju Percussion Group from 1993 to 2002. During her time with JPG, she performed over 500 concerts and hundreds of music related activities, including annual seasonal concerts at the Taiwan National Concert Hall and JPG Music Theatre, the musical Cyrano de Bergerac with Godot Theatre Company, the Annual JPG Children's Concert Tour (1994-1997, 2001), the Annual Lantern Festival hosted by Taipei City Government (1995-1998) and Kaohsiung City Government (2001-2002), the Keelung International Modern Music Festival (1997), the Taipei-Seoul Exchange Concert (1998) and the Taipei International Percussion Convention (2002, 2005). She has performed internationally with JPG in China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao, Spain, Hungary, Australia, Canada and the United States. In 1999, Kuo was a co-founder of the Butterfly Percussion Quartet with Pei-Ching Wu, and in 2011, she co-founded XPlorium Chamber Ensemble with Dr. Nathan Nabb. XPlorium Ensemble has been invited for performances at the 2011 WASBE Conference & 20th Chiayi City International Band Festival.

Kuo has been a featured soloist with Morehead State University (MSU) Percussion Ensemble at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in 2003, the Brazil concert tour with MSU in 2003, and the WVU Percussion Ensemble at Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre in 2004. She has premiered "Rippling Ruminations" by Renaldo Moya in 2005 as well as David Gillingham's Concerto for Marimba and Wind Ensemble in 2007 as the featured marimba soloist and Consortium Premiere with the MSU Symphony Band. Kuo was invited as a marimba soloist for a Christmas outdoor concert with MSU piano faculty in 2008 at Feng-Chia University in Taichung, Taiwan. She was the co-director and featured soloist with the Indiana All-State Percussion Ensemble at the 2018 Indiana Music Education Association Conference.

She has been an active clinician and chamber ensemble performer since 2007 having presented and performed at many events, including the Percussion Art Society Kentucky Day of Percussion (2013); the Indiana Percussion Association Clinic Day in (2016, 2017, 2019); the Music of the 21st Century Chamber Concerts (2016-2020); Indiana Music Education Association Conference Day of Percussion (2018, 2020); the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference (2012, 2018, 2020); as well as clinic tours in Taiwan and at numerous colleges and high schools in the Midwest.

Kuo earned her Master of Music at Morehead State University in 2003. In 2012, she earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance at the University of Kentucky as a student of Jim Campbell. She also appears on many CD projects with JPG, the MSU faculty, Dr. William Mann and the XPlorium Ensemble.

Kuo is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Percussion at DePauw University. Previously, Kuo was Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Morehead State University in Morehead, KY. Kuo proudly endorses Yamaha Corporation of America, Innovative Percussion, Remo Inc. and Zildjian Cymbals.
