Mark Oakley

Mark Oakley's Biography

As a member of two famed Nashville ensembles - the Sam's Place house band and Prime Time Country band - Mark Oakley has performed with such greats as Glen Campbell, Faith Hill and Michael McDonald. He was bandleader for one of SHeDAISY's tours, Jewel's guitarist and music director, and currently works with Amy Grant and SHeDAISY. As much as he enjoys playing for house bands where he has the opportunity to work with a different artist every night, focusing on one or two groups allows Oakley a "comfort zone" with the material. And, when performing live with one artist, as he did with Jewel, he is able to take more freedom and be more creative with the music.

Mark's career took off when he began touring with the band Giant. He then toured with such notable acts as Michael W. Smith, Gary Chapman, Susan Ashton, and Martina McBride. Mark has performed as a member of the House Band for the Dove Awards Show, as well as performed with the Prime Time Country Band for three years.

Television credits include performances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Regis & Kathy Lee Show, The Arsenio Hall Show, and The Drew Carey Show. Mark has performed on the American Music Award Show, the Country Music Award Show and the Academy of Country Music Award Show. And, a special treat was performing at the Ford Theatre for President George W. Bush.
