Kevin Finamore's Biography

Kevin Finamore won the position of Second Trumpet in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 2000. Prior to his Dallas Symphony tenure, Mr. Finamore performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Singapore Symphony, New Jersey Symphony and the Sun Valley Summer Music Festival. He also performed as a fellow and soloist at Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. Mr. Finamore can be heard on recordings by the American Brass Quintet, Dallas Symphony Brass Quintet and CancerBlows: The Legends. As the longest tenured member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's trumpet section, he has appeared as a soloist with the orchestra and can be heard on all the DSO recordings since his tenure.

Mr. Finamore joined the faculty of Southern Methodist University Meadows School of the Arts in 2018 as Adjunct Associate Professor of Trumpet. He was formerly a teacher for the preparatory department of The Julliard School of Music. Mr. Finamore regularly can be seen giving master classes and teaching in North Texas, Oklahoma and around the South at high schools and universities, including OSU, University of Kentucky, UNT, Baylor and University of North Carolina Greensboro.

Prior to his studies in New York, Mr. Finamore received his Master of Music from The Juilliard School of Music and Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. His professors included Ray Mase, Chris Gekker and Mark Gould. Mr. Finamore is a staple of the DSO trumpet section and, within the trumpet section, maintains the section sound and versatility. His responsibilities include regularly rotating within the section and can often be heard playing principal trumpet on both classics and pops.
