Charles Ross joined the Rochester Philharmonic as Principal Timpanist in January of 2003 and performs on the TP-7200 series timpani. He is very active as a Baroque and early music timpanist, performing with the VOX Amadeus Ensemble, the Philadelphia Classical Symphony, and the New York Collegium.

Biography:
Charles Ross joined the Rochester Philharmonic as Principal Timpanist in January of 2003. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, he has performed as Timpanist with numerous ensembles in this country and abroad including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Baltimore, Columbus, and New Mexico Symphonies, the Florida and Naples Philharmonics, La Scala Opera, the Santa Fe Opera, the Radio Orchestra of Torino (Italy), the Chatauqua Festival Orchestra, and the Moscow and Philadelphia Chamber Orchestras. Mr. Ross has also enjoyed the experience of performing as a baroque timpanist with such ensembles as the New York Collegium, Amadeus Ensemble, and the Philadelphia Classical Symphony. He has been an adjunct faculty member of the Curtis Institute of Music and Drexel University, and will be joining the faculty of the Eastman School of Music in the fall of 2008. Mr. Ross is also the creator and manufacturer of RossTimp Kettledrum Mallets, currently being used by professionals and students throughout the United States, as well as Canada, Japan, and Brazil.
