Biography:
Nate Harasim is more then just a musician, not only is he an accomplished songwriter, composer, arranger and saxophonist, he's viewed as one of the best pianists under the age of 30 in the entire country! Born and raised in the small town of Flint, Michigan, no one would dream that this overly energetic kid would excel on the keys as well as he has. After studying at the Flint Institute of Music, Nate formed the youngest Smooth Jazz band ever in the state of Michigan called MoJazz.

"We considered MoJazz an experiment in kid discipline," says Harasim. "It was a choir that none of the other band members thought would be successful." The 5 piece band consisted of 15 and 16 year olds whom their friends couldn't believe they wanted to play that type of music. "Our big break came when a local radio station DJ happened to catch one of our performances at a street festival. He gave us the opportunity to open up for jazz great Norman Brown and that got the ball rolling."

Nate left Flint in 1999 to serve his country in the Untied States Navy where he improved on his skills while attending the famed Navel School of Music. After his enlistment he wrote the music for Uncle Cracker's lead guitar player, Brian Schram. After learning it wasn't quite challenging enough, he decided to go back to his roots.

Nate currently hails from San Diego, CA, where he is performing and preparing to release his first full length smooth jazz CD. His band contains the best of the best. On trumpet is Mitch Manker, Emmy-winning, first chair Ray Charles trumpeter and lead man for Third Force. On the bass is one of the hottest players in the world, James East, who has recorded and toured with several greats including Lionel Richie and Sergio Mendez. Nate took 2 years putting together the best. "There was a point when I was ready to throw in the towel. The industry is full of so many wanna be greats after the quick money. The biggest problem was finding excellent experienced musicians that took me and my talent seriously. Since I'm the ripe age of 25 most of the 'monsters' wouldn't even return a call. Mitch and James took the time to listen and took the time to point me in the right direction. For that I am grateful."

Nate was proud to become a Yamaha artist and would have it no other way. When asked about Yamaha products he said, "Why would I want anything else. In the genre I'm in I need sounds that are genuine and full. Yamaha makes pianos. Therefore, it doesn't take a genius to figure out why a piano player/ keyboardist wouldn't want a Motif ES or S90. It's organic; it's as close to the real thing as you're going to get."
