Norman Landsberg
Though trained as a classical pianist, Norman Landsberg was able to draw upon the cultural diversity of his native New York City to develop a familiarity with a wide range of musical tastes and styles. His professional career started as one of the founding members of the rock group
Mountain. This led to his forming the group
Hammer, a group featured on
Bill Graham's newly formed label,
San Francisco Records. After moving to the San Francisco bay area, he gained recognition as vocal arranger and musical director for the
Pointer Sisters, touring extensively and making numerous television appearances with them. He went on to work with a variety of artists including former
Tower of Power lead singer,
Lenny Williams. When he's not performing on the road with Yount, Norman stays active in the recording industry as a sought-after independent producer, and along with his wife, keyboardist
Socorro de Castro, runs Landsberg Music Productions.
Bob Yount
Robert Blue Yount, a Los Angeles native, has enjoyed success as a pianist, actor, director and author. The Yount genetic pool is no stranger to musical success; his father wrote the standard popular song "
Please Release Me" and was a well known studio guitarist. Bob's stage credits include the national touring company of "
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" and "
The Music Man". Television credits include "
Quincy" and "
Barnaby Jones" as well as numerous national commercials. He has also toured with
Liberace, which he says explains his "continuing allergy to sequins". Much of the advice and encouragement that helped launch Landsberg & Yount to prominence came from Bob's lifetime musical idol who was later to become a friend and mentor, pianist / conductor
Peter Nero.
Landsberg & Yount
Landsberg & Yount have appeared with such orchestras as the St. Louis, Baltimore, North Carolina, San Antonio, Spokane, San Jose, Oakland, Jacksonville, San Francisco Pops, and the Philly Pops conducted by Peter Nero.
The duo has also had acclaim from corporate America with their unique and innovative custom presentations for such companies as Bank of America, Bank of the West, and IBM. They also have the distinction of being one of the first artists asked to participate in the prestigious Yamaha Music Corporation's Concert and Artist program, exclusively playing Yamaha Concert Grand Pianos in all personal appearances.
