Gifford Howarth has been a Yamaha Artist since 1995 and is an active recitalist and clinician focusing on mallet percussion.

Biography:
Gifford Howarth received his Bachelors degree from Ithaca College, his Masters degree from Kent State University, and his DMA at Michigan State University. His former teachers include Gordon Stout, Ted Rounds, and Bill Mollenof. He has been a Yamaha Artist since 1996 and focuses on mallet and marching percussion. Gifford has been active in the Yamaha Sounds of Summer Percussion camp program and has given several workshops at All-State Music Conferences, Day of Percussion events, and the Midwest Band Clinic in Chicago.
Gifford is active in the marching percussion genre through drum corps, indoor percussion, and marching bands throughout the US. He has been on staff for the Cadets, the Syracuse Brigadiers, Capital Regiment, and the Rochester Patriots. He is a WGI national percussion adjudicator along with several state-wide marching band and indoor percussion circuits.
Gifford published his first book in 2001 through Tap Space Publications entitled "Simply Four," and has published several solo and ensemble mallet works. He is a signature artist for Vic Firth and a clinician for the Zildjian Company. Howarth proudly performs on a Yamaha YM-5100A five-octave marimba along with other Yamaha percussion equipment.
