Dr. Jill Allen is a professional flutist, bassist, teacher and clinician living in New York City. Jill received a Doctor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and degrees from the University of Minnesota and Eastman School of Music. Jill has also received a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts. Dr. Allen is also bassist and co-leader of Gary Wofsey and his Jazz Orchestra and quintet. Dr. Allen was voted into the 67th annual Downbeat Readers Poll. She placed in the top eleven jazz flutists in the country.

Biography:
Dr. Jill Allen is a professional flutist, bassist, teacher and clinician living in Florida. Jill received a Doctor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and degrees from the University of Minnesota and Eastman School of Music. Jill has also received a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts. Jill has released two CDs which feature her as flutist. They include Too Much Fun! with jazz pianist Skip Wilkins, and Petty Theft, released in January 2001which features saxophonist David Liebman. Dr. Allen is also bassist and co-leader of Gary Wofsey and his Jazz Orchestra and in May of 2000, they released the CD Gary Wofsey in Stereo. Jill has performed and adjudicated at the Witchita Jazz Festival, was a clinician and guest soloist with the Syracuse University Jazz Ensemble, and played a full jazz concert for the New York Flute Club. Dr. Allen is a Yamaha Performing Artist, and was voted into the 67th annual Downbeat Readers Poll. Jill served as chair of the National Flute Association Jazz Committee.
