CLYDE STUBBLEFIELD started his musical career as a child in Chattanooga, TN, "playing on tin can lids, pasteboard boxes – everything." Since then Clyde has played all over the world and recorded with some of the greatest funk, soul, and R&B performers including James Brown, Otis Redding, and Clayton Fillyau.

While recording and performing with James Brown, Clyde joined John "Jab'o" Starks and they became known as the funkiest men alive. Clyde recorded "Funky Drummer". He and Jab'o are the most sampled drum tracks in the world.

Recently, Clyde and Jab'o have appeared on the cover of Modern Drummer and Stick It Magazines. Jab'o's and his instructional video's, Soul of the Funky Drummers, special guest are Fred Wesley, John Scofield, John Medeski and Fred Thomas. The new JB's CD, Bring the Funk on Down, is produced by Fred Wesley. October 1999 he toured with the JB's in Japan. March 2000 begins the recording of the FunkMasters L.L.P.'s new "funky" CD which should be released late spring or early summer of 2000.

Clyde was the WAMI 2000 Hall of Fame Inductee and was honored in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 8 May 2000. Clyde's drum sticks are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

Presently, Clyde lives in Madison, Wisconsin and tours with Michael Feldman's Public Radio Show, "Whad'Ya Know Show". He also travels and performs with many Wisconsin music groups.
