Tim Genis has been a Yamaha artist since 2000. He performs on the Yamaha TP-9000 and various other Yamaha percussion instruments. Currently teaching at Boston University he serves as Principal Timpanist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Tim also runs the Boston University Tanglewood Institute percussion program at Tanglewood. He has been a guest performer with the Vienna Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony, and Israel Philharmonic. Mr. Genis has given workshops throughout the United States and abroad.

Biography:
California native Timothy Genis joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1993 as Assistant Timpanist (and Principal Timpanist of the Boston Pops Orchestra) and last March was appointed Principal Timpanist of the BSO. Prior to Boston, he played with the Honolulu Symphony Society, Philharmonia Virtuosi in New York, the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. Genis is also the head of the percussion department at Boston University and runs the Boston University Tanglewood Institute percussion program at Tanglewood. He has recorded for the Sony, London Decca and Phillips labels and has been a guest performer with the Vienna Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony and Israel Philharmonic. Genis has conducted workshops and master classes throughout the U.S. and worked extensively with composer Elliot Carter on his "Eight Pieces for Timpani" in 2000.
